About Our Club
The Glanbrook Youth Soccer Club has been providing soccer in our community since 1980.
Founded by the Binbrook Optimists Club, there were 180 boys and girls playing in that first year.
Games were played at Bellmoore and Bellstone schools and at Valley Park in Upper Stoney Creek.
In 1984 we assisted in the development of the new Sports Complex on Binbrook Road, initially with three soccer fields and have since expanded to six fields. Our fundraising efforts permitted flood lighting to be installed on the main field, followed by the purchase of office facilities to better serve the community needs.
In 1989, to commemorate our 10th anniversary, all players received a Club Jacket, and for our 20th anniversary players were presented with a commemorative soccer ball. In 2002 the Ontario Soccer Association, in recognition of a significant contribution to the game of soccer, awarded our club the Meritorious Service Award.

Our Mission

In partnership with home and community, the Glanbrook Youth Soccer Club will provide the maximum opportunity for all eligible individuals to participate equitably in a program that encourages fair-play soccer, honour and respect for others.

Soccer Equipment To Cuba

During past trips, we made contact with two school teams in Holguin, coached by a former National Team Player. These two teams of 12 and 14 year-olds finished second and fifth in the national championships. Other than two soccer balls provided by Glanbrook Youth Soccer Club these teams have no equipment at all. Currently we are looking at ways of sending some additional equipment to them prior to our next trip. Many thanks to everyone for helping to make a little difference!

For the past few years, Don and Mandy Clowes have put up a sign at the Soccer Club for parents to turn in their used soccer equipment for delivery to children in Cuba.

The other photograph shows the local two room dirt floor school in the village of Playa Blanca, where a lot of the equipment was delivered to.

Though it was difficult to obtain photographs of the children, we did succeed in having Orlandito Riaz in the village of Rafael Freyre pose with his soccer shirt and ball.
